Variants

Dynamic

link_extern("name") { … } — dynamic linkage (-l<name>).

Static

static_link_extern("name") { … } — static linkage. On ELF the linker emits -Wl,-Bstatic -l<name> -Wl,-Bdynamic; on Mach-O it emits -Wl,-search_paths_first -l<name> and falls back to dynamic if no .a is on the search path.
